DESCRIPTION:“The Absolutely Can’t Miss Event of the Summer” is growing and evolving for 2019. In 2017\, we created the Pierce County Toy and Geek Fest as a fun little show that was true to our toy roots. The event in 2018 expanded to many new avenues\, but we kept with “Toy and Geek Fest” in our name. That name excluded the comics\, video games\, celebrities\, art\, attractions\, and so many other things that were at our event. Needless to say\, “Washington State Toy and Comics and Games and Exhibits and Celebrities and Geek Fest” wasn’t a finalist for the name change. After two months of hashing and rehashing 700+ names and possibilities\, we are moving forward with the name “Washington State Summer Con” for next year and future years.”

DESCRIPTION:A Convention For Collectors By Collectors\nIC Collectors Convention is a convention for EVERYONE that collects Toys\, from Aliens to Voltron with plenty of Star Wars mixed in! \nMy mission is to have the first convention ever by collectors for collectors. This means free parking\, and waters that aren’t 8 bucks! With a VIP area that has free food and doesn’t cost a fortune\, many seats for sitting to talk with friends or listen to a collectors panels. Tons of vendors\, vintage toys\, artists\, authors\, panelists\, movie props\, interactive activities\, fun activities for kids\, huge Guest Stars signing autographs\, and a BAND! (It is Music City!) A Convention that will give a FREE table to costume groups\, Facebook groups\, or any club that grows the collecting hobby. Friday\, September 14th will be the early entry for VIP only. Tickets must be purchased from EventBrite and are on a first come\, first served basis. We have limitations on numbers of attendees that we can legally have in the physical space so we have an attendee limit set. \nDo I need to bring my printed ticket to check-in?  \nYes and no\, we will be using a scanner to check attendees in and provide you with your swag bag of goodies. If you have your ticket whether printed or electronically we will be able to check you in faster. We’ll still be able to look you up and check you in\, but we’d much prefer you had the barcode! \nDroids\nCan I bring my droid?  \nUh\, yeah! That’s what this is all about. We’ve set aside an area to display droids so you can show off your creations and let others check out how you’ve made yours. \nWhat droids can I bring?  \nAny droids are acceptable. We started with astromechs but there are so many amazing droids out there we love to see all the variety. \nTable Space\nCan I bring my giant collection of stuff and take over a table(s)? \nSpace is becoming an issue with so many attending so we’re having to limit dedicated table space to accommodate our growth. Please review the ticket options if you need table space. No\, this doesn’t mean droids\, just the general parts display that inevitably show up. Yes\, this was a really hard decision\, and we’ll be discussing larger venues at this DroidCon. \nVendors\nCan I bring stuff to sell?  \nSure\, it’s totally acceptable to bring your droid related items to sell. All we ask is if you’re planning to sell to grab a premium ticket so you have a dedicated space to display your items. \nChildren\nCan I bring my children?  \nAbsolutely! There’s a ticket option for children under the age of 12 available. We love seeing the wonder on their faces\, the only thing we ask is that they are supervised at all times. \nSWAG\nIs there going to be some cool SWAG available?  \nWhy yes\, yes there will be. We’ve partnered with TeeSpring for a T-Shirt option\, that’s external from the event itself but we encourage you to pick one up if you like. Otherwise we’ve got patches\, lanyards\, and challenge coins lined up for attendees. \nAdditional Patch / Coin \nIf you would like an additional patch or coin with your order\, you can select it during the order process. Please note; you’re getting one of each as part of your ticket price but we know there are collectors who like to order additional. \nHotel\nIs there a code for booking the hotel?  \nNot really\, we have reserved a 50 room block at the Holiday Inn Indianapolis Airport. We recommend you call the hotel directly to book your room at (317) 856-6200. Tell them you are attending DroidCon to receive the room rate negotiated. There are additional hotels nearby should you prefer another location. \nYear of the GNK\nSo what is the Year of the GNK?  \nWe’re planning a GNK build-off challenge for builders to compete to create the most GNKalicious droid ever conceived. We’re recommending you get together a team of six master builders to work together in creating your masterpiece. We will be providing you a life-size shell for you to customize. Basically\, we’re providing the box\, legs\, and feet premade out of wood. \nWhat do you need to provide?  \nThe greeblies! Start planning with your team how you’d like to decorate it and gather your greeblies. We’ll have some hot glue guns to assist in your assembly but the sky is the limit with your imagination. \nAt the end of DroidCon we’ll be voting on the best GNK in a few different categories. \nThe winning team will receive an amazing prize! \nAll the GNKs created will be displayed at the next Star Wars Celebration.

We have a conference room at a local hotel as well as the use of a large shop space for the messy activities. \nFriday is check in day and meet at the hotel after 4 pm for a general get together and chat. \nSaturday starting at 9AM\, we will meet at the large shop.  If you are interested in purchasing and assembling either frames (CSL) or legs during the event\, you need to notify me in advance so I can have them precut and ready for assembly.  IF you’re interested in this\, then this is the time to do it since you only need to pay for the costs of materials and the CNC cutting is free.  Wood glue and various fasteners will be provided for assembly. \nThe shop is fairly large (30\,000 square feet) so there is plenty of room to do whatever. The shop primarily makes walk-in bathtubs so there is lots of fiberglass floating about. If you’re prone to itching just a heads up\, you may want a long sleeve shirt and putting a little bit of baby powder on exposed skin will mitigate it quite a bit. \nWhenever we retire from the shop on Saturday evening we can all head back to the… \nComfort Suites\n340 Parkway 575\nWoodstock\, GA 30188\n770-517-9650 \nWhere we have secured the conference room for our use. \nAt the hotel we’ll have setup several 3D printers for printing demonstrations. We’ll be discussing different design software used to create the parts as well. \nSoldering Sunday\, meet in the conference room at 9AM and we will be doing learn to solder workshops. If you need help soldering there will be people there to assist you in doing that. I will bring at least one soldering iron if not two as well as a reflow oven. \nIn addition we should have a bunch of little prizes to raffle away… \nIf you would like to bring stuff to trade\, sell\, or showoff\, there will be tables in the conference room for you to do just that. \nIf you are interested in giving a presentation or talking about a droid building subject\, please let me know and we can schedule any amount of time you need. \nIf you’re not local\, or maybe you are but would like to just stay overnight to be closer please book at the Comfort Suites. Just say your coming to the DroidBuilders Event / robot thing and they would get it. \nI will have more information to follow but I do hope some of you will be able to attend. \nPlease note\, work at the large shop is a dangerous place. While children are more than welcome they must be closely supervised to ensure their safety while we are at the shop.

The droids are always a big draw to the Space Expo area\, so they asked for us to return. They can provide an area for approximately 20-30 droids. \nThe area will be setup and torn down by Columbia Memorial Space Center volunteers. I can’t guarantee we’ll have access to power outlets at our particular booth\, but there will be secure locations to charge batteries etc overnight in the Space Expo area. \nNote that I will only be able to attend Saturday\, possibly only for the first few hours and I’ll be on panels for most of those. I need someone to volunteer to be in charge on Sunday and Saturday afternoon. \nThere is also an R2 builders panel on Saturday from 3-4pm that I need 2-3 volunteers for. \nSpecial Instructions: There is a loading zone directly attached to the exhibit hall where you will be allowed to temporarily park and unload your droid. The dock is very busy for the few hours leading up to the event so you may be forced to unload your car\, drive away and park\, then walk back and take your droid in. There should be enough of us around to help watch droids. \nNumber Of Droids: ~30 + 1 Wrangler each (full-day exhibitor passes available for each builder)\nWranglers Needed/How Many: 1 per droid\nEvent Indoor Or Outdoor: Indoor\nCan Family Members/Friends Come: We can give +1s to each builder to bring their SO/friend/etc\, and more can be given on a case-by-case basis. Children under 10 are free.\nEvent Open To Public: Yes\, with tickets. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door\nParking Provided: Not provided\, but lots of parking areas in close vicinity for a nominal fee. The convention center itself has huge parking lots available for $10\, but there are other lots and garages within close walking distance ranging from $5-$30. I highly recommend arriving early and getting into the convention center lot.\nWater/Snacks Provided: No\, BYO. Some builders may volunteer to bring snacks/drinks. DESCRIPTION:  \nJet Blast Bash is out big annual summer community festival. It will be August 5th and 6th\, 10am to 4pm each day. This is right during Seafair and the Blue Angels take off and land in front of the Museum. We’re expecting upwards of 9\,000 visitors over the two days of the event. \nWe transform our East Parking Lot into a display area with static aircraft\, vintage cars\, music\, food\, beer and activities\, and a wide selection of community partners including other museums\, aviation companies\, educational institutions\, and affinity groups like the R2 Club. As the education department puts on this event we like to keep the content STEM-minded\, and our theme this year is “mechanically inclined\,” and seeking to promote all manner of skills and education that go into the vast majority of careers in the aerospace world. I think the work that your club does supports our theme nicely\, and the R2s are always a crowd pleaser! \nSimilar to your display in May\, we’d love to have a handful of your working R2s\, as well as some in-progress ones for visitors to see the inner workings of. We’d provide your group with a 20×20 tent and tables and chairs\, and food and beverages for members of your club that are participating.
