Jet Blast Bash is out big annual summer community festival. It will be August 5th and 6th, 10am to 4pm each day. This is right during Seafair and the Blue Angels take off and land in front of the Museum. We’re expecting upwards of 9,000 visitors over the two days of the event.
We transform our East Parking Lot into a display area with static aircraft, vintage cars, music, food, beer and activities, and a wide selection of community partners including other museums, aviation companies, educational institutions, and affinity groups like the R2 Club. As the education department puts on this event we like to keep the content STEM-minded, and our theme this year is “mechanically inclined,” and seeking to promote all manner of skills and education that go into the vast majority of careers in the aerospace world. I think the work that your club does supports our theme nicely, and the R2s are always a crowd pleaser!
Similar to your display in May, we’d love to have a handful of your working R2s, as well as some in-progress ones for visitors to see the inner workings of. We’d provide your group with a 20×20 tent and tables and chairs, and food and beverages for members of your club that are participating.
